With a population of over 84 million and an average age of 32.7, Türkiye is a country with enormous potential for skilled labour. Its young population is actively seeking career opportunities and provides a pool of skilled professionals for almost every sector of industry.
Strong vocational training and academic foundations
The Turkish education system is diverse and provides a solid foundation for the international labour market:
- Vocational training: Over 150 recognised professions, particularly strong in the fields of mechanics, mechatronics, electrical engineering and metalworking.
- Higher education: 209 universities are producing large numbers of engineers, IT specialists and economists. Thanks to the Bologna Process, the qualifications are highly comparable with those on the German market.
Close ties to Germany
Due to historical and family ties, there is traditionally a very strong orientation towards Germany. This ‘affinity with Germany’ not only makes the decision to migrate easier, but also promotes rapid and successful integration into the German labour market.
Support from ProRecognition
Since 2024, the German-Turkish Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK Türkiye) has been offering professional advice on the recognition of vocational qualifications through the ProRecognition project. Skilled professionals receive targeted support to have their qualifications officially recognised and lay the foundations for their careers in Germany.
