Brazil is a key market for the German economy: over 1,400 German companies operate there, providing around 1.25 million jobs. With an unemployment rate of nine per cent and the new German Skilled Workers Immigration Act making immigration rules more favourable, there is growing interest among Brazilian skilled professionals in working in Germany.
Cultural affinity and education
The connection between the two countries has developed over time: millions of Brazilians have German roots – German schools abroad and numerous PASCH schools strengthen this relationship. Demand for German language courses, for example at the five Goethe-Institut locations, remains consistently high.
Strong network for skilled professionals
Brazil offers many experts in the fields of IT, engineering and business administration. The Câmara Brasil-Alemanha de São Paulo (AHK Brazil) acts as a central bridge in this regard: together with the education provider SENAI and the German Consulate General, it supports companies in their search for talent and assists skilled professionals with visa matters.
Support from ProRecognition
Since 2020, the ProRecognition project in São Paulo has been offering individual advice on the recognition of professional qualifications. This service is complemented by the Goethe-Institut on the ground – as well as at its locations in Rio de Janeiro, Brasília and Curitiba – to support skilled professionals on their journey to Germany with language courses and preparatory programmes.
